Supporting people affected by the DANA in Valencia
On October 29, something stirred deeply within all of us. After days of processing the devastation, we knew we couldn't just stand by while such a harsh reality unfolded just ten minutes from our homes. Our friend Vivi, at the center of the photo, shared firsthand the destruction that had struck her hometown, Paiporta. The streets and corners that shaped her childhood were now buried under mud and debris. Determined to help, we sought ways to give visibility to those most affected: the residents of Paiporta. One evening at Vivi’s home, we shaped our idea, aiming to approach it with humanity and proximity. From this, La Nostra Gent was born—a humble project that amplifies the voices of those who have lost what many take for granted: a home, a job, a slow morning, a Friday night out with friends. Through the stories of Dora, Cristina, Héctor, Diego, María José, Maite, Carmen, and Francisco Javier, we share the resilience of those who have opened their homes and businesses to tell us how they have lived—or rather, survived—the days following this disaster. Despite the hardships, they step forward, reminding us of the incredible strength people find in adversity. They seek a second chance, and any support is welcome to help them rebuild their lives, little by little. Because life always finds a way to bloom, even in the harshest conditions. Let’s not let their light fade into oblivion. With all our love: Diana, Iria, Vivi, Alex, and Jona.
